What is the Kama Sutra? In today's world, 'Kama Sutra' refers to a type of malware or malicious software worm that infects PCs using MS Windows. It is also known as Blackworm, Nyxem, and Blackmal. I'm sure that's the first thing that popped into your head when you saw the title of my post - LOL!
Many believe it is an erotic book filled with talk of various sexual positions. In reality, that is only part of it. The Kama Sutra is an interesting ancient Indian work that gives us an insight into the history, politics, secular life and social customs of ancient India.
In Sanskrit, Kāma means desire, affection, love, lust, sensual pleasure...It is also one of the four goals (purusarthas) in life. Kama may also refer to the Indian god of love, similar in some wats to Cupid or Eros in Western mythology. Sutra refers to a style of writing that uses aphorisms, short rules or precepts.
The Kama Sutra is a classical Indian treatise combining philosophy, sociology, Hindu dogma, psychology, scientific inquiry and sexology. It was written around the 4th century AD by Mallanāga Vātsyāyana. Part art of love and part social conduct, it's the earliest of the surviving Hindu 'love manuals'.
