On November 8, we lost hip hop artist, actor and record producer, Heavy D, at the age of 44. He collapsed outside his home in Los Angeles. An autopsy has been performed, but results have not been released.
Self-described as the 'overweight lover', he weighed in at 344 pounds. One of his lyrics said no one possessed 'more bounce to the ounce." His flirtatious lyrics and charm made him a sex symbol for many women. In a 1997 Washington Post interview he said, "It has nothing to do with looks. I feel comfortable with myself, but it's more about the personality. I feel sexy."
Even at a top weight of 395 pounds, he was light on his feet when dancing and rapping on the stage. He lead the group "Heavy D and the Boyz" with songs that revolved around his love of women including, "Gyrlz, They Love Me", "Nuttin But Love" and one of his most well-known songs, "Now That We Found Love".
He was also an actor, appearing on television and the big screen in "Life", "New Jack City", "Big Trouble", "The Cider House Rules", "Boston Public", "Bones", "Hitch" and as a security guard in "Tower Heist", starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, which is currently playing in theaters.
I remember dancing to this....
